Dear friends,
I
wanted to reach out to you to seek support for my mother Shelby.
Shelby is a prodigiously gifted musician (guitarist and vocalist) who has had a number of health challenges throughout her
life, many life-threatening. She was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus in 1987 and thankfully a few years later, after two close
calls, was able to go into such remission that the doctors declared her free of it altogether, going so far as to call it
miraculous - which we believe it is!
Starting
in the mid 1990s, due to the severe medications she was taking for the Lupus, Shelby began to experience crippling arthritis
In 1999, Shelby suffered a heart attack and had a stent put in. Her arthritis in her hip and knees progressed to osteonecrosis,
which essentially means bone death, which has now begun in her shoulder.
In January, Shelby suffered a stroke and a second one month later, which she is persevering in faith to recover from
but it's a long road. She was in the hospital for three months due to complications from medications she was taking and then
stayed for a short while in nursing rehab. She is home now, but has mounting costs associated with her home health care aides,
speech/physical/occupational therapist visits, prescriptions, and supplies. 100% of your gift will go to relieve these expenses
and any support that you can provide is so very appreciated. We are working as a family to take care of all of my mom's needs
but any added support is so welcome. All of the "...Ask Darcie" revenue will be going to help defray her costs and we also
appreciate your gifts and prayers.
To contribute please visit the "...Ask Darcie" Paypal account whose access address is darcie@askdarcie.info OR click
the DONATE button below.
For
those wishing to give via postal mail, please email me at askdarcie@hotmail.com for information.
You
will receive an email receipt for your gift. All gifts will go directly to help purchase supplies and other health-care related
expenses.
In the meantime, I am going
to be working with my mom to see if we can stimulate her left hand back into movement by working together so she can play
guitar. My dad and I will have to shadow her left hand to help it depress the strings, but this will bring her much joy as
she works toward recovery. She's still laughing and smiling - a beautiful thing!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. With love and prayer for your families, Darcie
